GENERAL ANESTHESIA

General anesthesia produces a state of unconsciousness wherein you are completely asleep during your treatment. General anesthesia is fast-acting, taking effect in approximately one minute, and can be controlled to increase or decrease your level of sedation safely and precisely.

If you are afraid of receiving dental treatment, you will not have to get over your fear on your own, because you will sleep through your treatment. It can be a great help to treat the very young patient as early as 2 years old for extensive dental treatment caused by trauma or Bottle Syndrome.

General Anesthesia Sedation is also very helpful if you have special needs such as physical or mental disabilities, are in recovery from an addiction, or have complex medical conditions. Sedation dentistry can put you at ease while undergoing dental treatment whether treating one tooth or the entire mouth with zero memory of any you will feel no pain while the treatment is being done. You will not hear, smell or taste anything. Your appointment will be a dream and hours in the chair will feel like minutes. When you receive general anesthesia during your dental treatment you will have no memory of the procedure. This modality is predictable, comfortable, and ensures that your dental treatment can be easily completed.

Benefits of IV Sedation:

  • It's extremely effective for moderate to severe anxiety
  • It's quick-acting
  • The level of sedation can be adjusted during the procedure so that you remain comfortable at all times
  • In many cases, you can get ALL of your dental work done in one visit

During General Anesthesia (IV Sedation), an anti-anxiety drug is administered into the bloodstream to achieve a state of "deep sedation" in which you won't remember much about the procedure afterwards.

For extensive cases we use the services of Dr. Maurice Gross, Board Certified anesthesiologist that monitors the patient while Dr. Navas performs the dental treatment.
